Executive Director Vacancy
The GreenMatter Partnership is a national non-profit organisation (NPO). Its mission is to develop human capacity for environmental conservation and management, and to develop future custodians of South Africa’s natural heritage. This it achieves through involvement in and support of the national Biodiversity Human Capital Development Strategy (BHCDS). Our contributions include leading a postgraduate fellowship programme, supporting teacher education, incubating environmental entrepreneurs and advocating for transformational change in the sector. We intend expanding our offerings over the next five years.,
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GreenMatter Partnership is recruiting an
Executive Director
to provide strategic and operational leadership to the organisation.
Applicants should have a Masters’ degree in environmental sciences, education, business management or a similar discipline, and at least 10 years’ professional work experience. If you do not have this level of qualification and experience please do not apply. The position requires the following expertise/skill-sets/attributes:
- A passion for empowering South Africa’s youth and, in this context, the ability to act as a role model
- A commitment to excellence, integrity, transparency and efficiency
- Organisational and business leadership and management
- An accomplished networker, fund-raiser and partnership developer
- Detailed knowledge of the environmental education and training sector in South Africa. Detailed understanding of the BHCDS would be advantageous
- Advanced communication, reporting and presenting skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- The ability to work independently and take initiative.
While GreenMatter has a national presence, the incumbent should ideally be based in Gauteng. Applicants must be willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license.
The gross salary range for the position is R 750 000 – R 950 000 per annum.
