Overall Development Objective: To enhance transformative environmental learning through teacher education. This will be achieved through five inter-related programme objectives
Five sub-objectives help to achieve the main objective:
Capacity Building: develop teacher education capacity that in turn supports teacher capacity to enable transformative environmental learning that is curriculum aligned.
Policy and Advocacy: enhance national take-up of transformative environmental learning within the national system of teacher education.
Build the National System of Engagement: expand the network of providers and the community of practice engaged with transformative environmental learning through teacher education.

TEACHER EDUCATION MATERIALS
Two types of teacher education materials
are produced:
specific phases of the schooling system
Fundisa for Change teacher education materials are written collaboratively. Writers include
teacher educators in universities,
environmental sector partners and/or
Department of Education officials. Materials are reviewed, piloted and adjusted in response to updated knowledge, needs and curriculum requirements. The materials are made available as common property resources to be used by all of South Africa’s nationally accredited teacher education institutions via participation in the Fundisa for Change network.
“Many of the environmental topics in the South African curriculum (CAPS) a re new to teachers. This affects how they are taught to learners in our schools. The Fundisa for Change programme seeks to support teachers and teacher educators to improve teaching and learning, contributing to the quality and relevance of education in South Africa” Dr. Zintle Songqwaru.
